I highly recommend keeping tabs, post-its, and maybe a notebook around so you can keep track of all of your theories and ideas (because believe me, you will have them). But the payoff is fantastic, and Harrow the Ninth is on track to earn the entirely made up title of being my favorite read of 2022.Īs you would expect from the title, the central character of this book is Harrow Nonagesimus, and it is a GIANT maze of intrigue and mystery. This review is going to sound vague and confusing, because I’m trying to avoid spoilers and the book is confusing. Things happen and there’s a problem to solve, a big-bad to defeat, but who actually is the big bad? I’ve read the book and I couldn’t tell you for sure.
The best I can come up with is: Harrow is on a giant space station which might be haunted, and everything she remembers (about her life and the events of Gideon the Ninth) just isn’t true. Normally I like to open my reviews with a brief summary, but I just can’t give a summary of this book without spoiling Gideon the Ninth.
